Accessibility

Accessibility statement.

BUFF is built to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or reduced-motion settings.

Our conformance target

BUFF aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We treat that as a working standard applied during design and build, not a certification claim. Accessibility is reviewed whenever a page changes.

What that means in practice

  • Semantic headings on every page, in order, so screen readers can navigate by structure.
  • Keyboard access to every interactive control, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Text and interface colours checked against WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios.
  • Meaningful alternative text on images that carry information, and none on decorative ones.
  • Motion that is reduced automatically when your device requests reduced motion.
  • Forms with real labels, described errors, and no reliance on colour alone.

Known limitations

Stating these plainly is part of the standard. We would rather name a gap than imply it does not exist.

  • Third-party embeds (scheduling, video, mapping) are outside our direct control; we choose accessible providers where a choice exists.
  • PDF downloads are published as they are supplied. Where a PDF is not fully tagged, the same material is available as a web page or through AI Tyler.
  • Long AI Tyler answers with several citations can be dense on small screens; we continue to refine that layout.

Tell us about a barrier

If any part of this site is hard to use with your assistive technology, we want to know. Describe the page and what happened, and we will respond with a fix or a plain explanation of the timeline. Where a page is not yet usable for you, we will supply the same information in another format.
